Hi!

In general extrusion can become extremely complex, but for historical reasons several entities in DXF/DWG can be extruded quite simply by just setting their Thickness property. This mostly works for entities which are basically flat (i.e. 2D):

  • DxfArc
  • DxfAttribute
  • DxfAttributeDefinitions
  • DxfCircle
  • DxfLine
  • DxfLwPolyline
  • DxfPoint
  • DxfPolyline2D
  • DxfPolyline2DSpline
  • DxfSolid
  • DxfText
Extrusion is done in direction of the ZAxis property, but be warned that changing the ZAxis will also change the orientation and placement of most entities of the above list. You can use positive and negative values for Thickness (0.0 of course means no thickness). For positive values the extrusion is done in direction of the ZAxis, for negative it is done in the inverse direction.
