3DSolid Support

I was curious if any progress had been made on support for 3d solids. Cadlib has made a lot of the things I've been doing quicker and 3d solid support would be the last piece to the puzzle for me.

Thanks

Hi,

CadLib since recently supports the REGION entity (read/write/partial render). The 3DSOLID entity is very similar to the REGION entity (they are both based on ACIS). So we are planning to add read/write support of 3dSolids in the near future (90% complete, estimated completion around mid-end of November). Rendering of 3dsolids is not on the roadmap yet. Do you have any requirements related to the 3dSolids functionality?

We use a program that creats a dwg of our products using 3d solids. I need to convert this into a jpeg for use in other areas (such as printing onto a tag with other information). Currently I have a bit of code written to automate autocad, but I'd really like to move this to a server solution as I have multiple people that need to do this and it does tie up there systems for sometime when doing the plotting of the dwg in autocad.

Thanks

I was just about to post a feature request for 3DSOLID rendering support - looks like it's already at the top of this forum.

Looking forward to this missing feature.  For me, rendering support is not required, just need to extract vertices from entity.

Hi,
In terms of ACIS cylinder surface has only two vertexes, two edges, 4 coedges, 3 faces... I think that you asked about vertexes of mesh representation. But generation of mesh is equal to the rendering task.

The next text stream is SAT. This is internal representation of 3dSolid (simple sphere). There are no vertexes at all.

It's been quite awhile and I am curious if rendering of 3D Solids is still on the road map? I have been using another 3rd party library to get done what I need, but I'd much prefer to consolidate my solution to a single library using cadlib.

Hi,

It's still in the road map, but has been on hold for a while because of other items like DWG 2013 support.

Can I ask what library you have been using so far to render solids?

Thanks!

I have been using EyeShot by devdept. I have run into a few issues with it, but it has done pretty well.

Hello,

Any news on CadLib support for 3DSolid? I am at a point where I need to implement this now and wanted to make sure that CadLib does not have this before shopping around.

thanks
